Setup Wizard - Define Email Accounts
(Does not apply if Proxy Mode was previously selected) |
| Item |
Description |
| Instructions Window |
Changes to a list to display the email accounts defined so far.
Clicking on an account in the list will select it for Deleting - Double clicking on a displayed
account will copy the account's information into the windows below the list and switches the Add
button to Update for making changes. Delete also functions in Update mode. |
| Display Name |
Put the the name you want displayed in the Account List here.
This name has no effect on any functions and may be anything descriptive for the account. |
| Account Name |
Put the account name your ISP or network administrator has furnished you for your
mail in this field [this may or may not be the email address, depending on individual server
configurations]. If you have your email account from your email client open [good idea as it
makes this the most accurate], this is the same as the "Account ID" or "Account name" or "Logon
name", etc. from the email account in your email program. |
| Password |
Enter the password for the email account.
NOTE: Password fields must be typed in! Copy & Paste never works in a password field,
anywhere, since all it ever does is copy and paste the characters you SEE in the field - not the
ones you put in there originally.
Don't feel bad - This has never been painfully obvious. |
| POP server |
Put the name or IP address of the server your ISP or network administrator has
furnished you for incoming mail in this field. This is the same incoming POP server used in
your regular email client. |
| Active |
The default is Active. Remove the checkmark to remove the account from
active status. Inactive accounts remain on the list but will not be checked during scheduled
runs or for duplicate accounts when Add is clicked. |
| Port |
The default POP port is 110. Only change this if required for your email
account. Your working email account in your email client already contains the correct value
for this entry - SpamX is not any different. |
| Add |
Adds the account defined in the fields to the list and clears the Display Name,
Account and Password fields. Add also checks the current account list for duplicate
active accounts and returns an error if an active account identical to the one
being added is found.
As mentioned earlier, the Add button switches to Update when an
account displayed in the list is double clicked. |
|
Go Back |
Click to go back to previous step. |
|
Continue |
Click to continue. |
| Cancel |
Leave the Setup Wizard. All data is discarded and the Wizard will start
again automatically the next time SpamX is run. |
